Adolescent STI Screening

Sexually Transmitted Infections affect many during their adolescent years. These infections are often treatable but when left undiagnosed can lead to life long complications including infertility, carcinomas, and pelvic inflammatory disease. Other more serious chronic diseases including HIV and hepatitis can be properly managed when detected early. Aside from protecting individual health, undetected STIs leads to further transmission and poses a public health threat. Early detection, treatment and education in adolescents will decrease the risk to themselves and the community.
